Maytag Dishwasher Model MDB7100 - Product Complaint

I request that anyone out there DO NOT buy a Maytag Dishwasher Model MDB7100. We have had this dishwasher only 5 years. Here are some of the things that have gone wrong:

  • Wheels fall off.
  • Adjustable tines break off.
  • Black seal around the dishwasher somehow smudges onto the door.
  • Jan of 2006 we had to replace the computer board as it stopped working all together.
  • Less than one year later, the computer board is out again, cycle does not finish, dishes not getting rinsed, sometimes, not cleaned.
  • Digital numbers on front only partly visible.
  • This thing has been a disaster from the word go and I am so disappointed I could scream.
  • I thought we were getting one of the best with Maytag.

This is WHY it is so wonderful to have a place to look where customers/owners send their feedback in to compile it into Consumer's Reports, Frequency of Repair lists. It's one of the most/only reliable sources of getting the scoop on most everything
significant we buy, and are HONEST in telling it like it is. Back issues are at the libraries, and newer copies
with the LEAST INFO BECAUSE THE PRODUCTS HAVEN'T HAD TIME TO BE TESTED BY OWNERS OR
THE CONSUMER'S LABS YET, can be purchased on a
book/mag. stand. Good luck. We've always checked with them and had GREAT luck with what
'they recommend, with only one exception they
didn't know about. God bless you. : )

My MDB7100 has been working flawlessly for 15.5 years. The issue now is the bottom tray is corroding away and the manug=facturer (Maytag at that time - Whirlpool I think now) has chosen to no longer manufacturer a replacement tray.

Bummer!

Bought ours in 2000, worked fine until 2005 when it was one thing after another, the grommet on the soap dispenser cracked and the door leaked everywhere (not covered by the warranty), then the door gasket didn't work properly, and the washer leaked out the sides. They were both replaced, and we noticed last night that the door is leaking again. The dishwasher hasn't washed dishes properly in about 6 months, and no amount of filter cleaning fixes the problem. I have had it. Apparently anything that's gone wrong falls just short of the warranty coverage. Terrible customer service, too.

I'm off to buy a new dishwasher, and it will NOT be a Maytag.

I did scream I got a new maytag and it was no good from the time I got it home.
I had repairmen out and it still did not work right. I call the company and to get help and two persons were very nice one from Tenn. name Melissa got me so upset I did scream. I ask to speak to someone over her she refuse to let me speak to anyone else I call over and over talking to two more people one man from Washington State and he was nice but I still could not get any help.

the repairmen had the Dishwasher and I refuse to let it come back to my house. It was a lemon from the word go. they will not back-up what the papers say in black and white.
They are still refusing to exchange the disher the place I bought let me have another and said he will take the lost. I have had all Maytag app. for years and this time I got junk. Pure Junk, I wish I could sue them for my three weeks of stress over this junk.

I also got sucked in to buying a Maytag dishwasher, and one year to the date it stopped working the touch panel was fried and the wouldnt display the cycles and then it quit altogether. I called for service was put on hold for a hour and booked a service call - that was 2 months ago and they never did call me !!!

I am going to chuck that piece of metal on my lawn with a sign to NEVER BUY A MAYTAG! even the parts aren't warranteed past one year without purchasing extended service.(which the service sucks so I am glad I didnt waste anymore money now that I have to buy another new dishwasher within a year!

Dishwasher less than 2 years old and touch panel on top of door does not work. Can press as hard as you can and no light will come on. The digital readout on door does not come on either.

My Maytag MDB7000 is GREAT. It's been running carefree for over 8 years now. I love it and will by another!

After 2 years and three months of using the Maytag "Quiet Series 400" dishwasher it has just died. I spent $65 to have the repairman tell me many Maytags are crap, especially the soft pushbutton types.

And it will cost $300 to replace the control panel on this $500 machine. Has anyone had similar problem, and received any satisfaction from Maytag?

I also bought a piece of crap Maytag dishwasher. I was warned not to buy Maytag but they were able to deliver the colour I wanted the fastest. My dishwasher is not even three years old and we have been having trouble for two years and now it has stopped working completely. No digital display at all. The other problems I had was when using the delay function I would wake up in the morning to find the dishwasher had run but the soap dispenser did not open. Also, we have had a flashing number nine for years and when this happens all you can do is wait until it stops flashing (hours) until you can run the dishwasher.

The dishes are not really clean and there is always food particles left in the glasses. I don't have a repair estimate yet but I see a new digital panel costs $160 not including the service call. I will tell everyone I know DO NOT BUY a Maytag product because it's not worth the money!

Have had this dishwasher for 10 years and it finally died. I must say the washer outlasted the plastic touch pad as it cracked and split but still works and digital readout is still working. I have to admit we got our monies worth on this unit and was very pleased with its output. Off to the store to look at another Maytag.
