When I go to send an e-mail I have lost the word (icon) on my Dell (Windows 7) computer for the contacts.

Assuming that you're referring to the Icon missing from your desktop? If so, go to:
1) Start
2) All Programs
3) Microsoft Office
4) Right-click the Word Icon. and either select 'Create Shorrtcut' or see if you can drag the icon to the desktop.
