Because a greyhound finds it difficult to reach to the ground for food, water, etc., place his water and feeding bowl on a bucket so he does not have to struggle. They appreciate this especially when they are reaching the 'winter of their years'.

I've owned several Greyhounds and Great Danes. The easiest answer is to use a plastic tub that comes with dishwasher soap (buy at large warehouse clubs).
Empty the soap, clean the tubs and stand upright with lid off. Get a stainless steel pan with a lip around it. With the lid off the tub place the pan in it so that the lip will prevent it from falling into the tub. If you have a taller dog put the lid back on and the dogs pan on top of it. The rim on the lid will help hold the pan while the dog eats.
Or you can look for a plant stand and use that. Good luck.
