A healthy alternative to expensive dog treats are vegetable and fruit. Dogs love chewing on fresh carrots. Canned green beans or canned carrots are also healthy and good for them with no fillers. Another special treat are small bananas. I get the over ripe ones at a reduced rate.

Please use frozen string beans & veggies not canned. Canned has too much sodium. You can use frozen green beans when dog is on diet, too. Replace some of regular food with beans. Fills the belly without a lot of calories. My 10 year old rescued Golden lost 35 lbs this way. 102 lbs to 67 lbs over a long period of time. She is now 11 1/2 yrs old.
Wow! What a pic. This lil guy/gal is in seventh heaven. You can tell by the smile.
On occasion I give my dog canned green beans, but if they are the kind with salt I wash them before I give them to him. My dog loves watermelon, bananas, apples but he won't eat carrots. I feed him cooked chicken gizzards, chicken liver, grilled chicken and small amounts of cooked ground beef that has been washed to get rid of most of the fat.
All canned goods have dangerous BPA in them. BPA is what is used on the walls of the can - it's poisonous not good for man or beast.
I feed my wee girls chopped apple. I peel it first so the skin wont lodge in their throat. I chop it tiny & give only a small amount , daily. They also like a little fresh corn that I strip off the cob.
Friends remember that BPA is used to line the canned food and it's poison. Frozen veggies is a safer choice for man & beast,
