I would make sure and only shave after having been soaking in the water long enough, where the skin is really wet. If the skin is dry it will get more irritated.
Some soaps are really drying, and some people shave with soap that has conditioner in it, like the hair conditioner or shampoo with conditioner already in it.

The healtheir the skin is the better it will be when it is shaved. If you are sensitive, then get sensitive skin razors. I hope this might help.

Another thing to do is shave in the direction that the hair grows.

To prevent razor rash or skin irritation when using razor blades (as opposed to electric razors), store your shaving device in a small container filled with coconut oil. An empty ibuprofen bottle, for example, is just the right width. Heat the coconut oil a bit, pour it into the pill bottle and add your razor. The container should fit nicely on any shower shelf / organizer and the hot water will keep the oil from becoming too solid.

The oil not only keeps the blades sharp longer, but adds a layer of protection between the razor and your skin. I've experimented with other oils, including mineral oil, but they become rancid fairly quickly.
