My husband has a hard time slipping his heavy boots on. His socks aren't really very thick and the boots fit well once he gets them on. He does unlace them all the way, but still has problems. Any ideas to make it easier? Thanks so much.

It's probably that his feet have swollen a bit once they are off. Hikers always tell people to loosen their laces but to never take off their boots cos' you won't get them back on. It's just a theory. Hope it helps.
A long handled shoe horn might do the trick. Some shoe stores give them away. A stainless steel one will last forever and doesn't cost very much.
He could try lining the boot with a plastic bag to be slid out past his foot when boot is on.
If he's already loosening the laces as far as they'll go, the only thing I can think of is what I did when I was wearing boots. Use my own weight to get my foot into the boot. I'd get the boot on as far as I could, then put some weight on that foot. I'd use the wall or cabinet for balance. Worked for me...
