Oh, I really hope someone comes up with some ideas here! I had surgery to remove a plantar wart plus to shorten the toe that was causing it in February of this year and I can already feel a tiny bump starting to form in the same place again. So I would love to hear any reasonable suggestions. I don't want to go through all that again!

These are just tough little dudes to get rid of. My son's plantar wart required 2 burn offs to be truly eradicated. Fortunately our doctor does it himself in his office and doesn't send us to the podiatrist (yay!) Call ahead to the doctor's office to be sure they can do it if that is what you want. For example, the pediatrician wouldn't do it, but it was time for him to move up to our family practice physician anyway. We followed up the first treatment with the prescribed cream but were told in advance "It may take two times to get this one." Don't waste time with over the counter stuff. Go see yr professional and follow their advice, and keep your follow up appointments. My son didn't like the needle used to numb the area (twice!) but he sure is glad he no longer has that wart!
Are you sure that it isn't just scar tissue that you are feeling? You can try to 'duct tape' remedy, but I have never had to use it myself. You cut a piece of duct tape to fit, apply it, and leave it on until it falls off on its own, then continue doing so until it is gone.
We had really good luck at our house with the freeze-away home freezing kits. My daughter had an extensive cluster under her big toe, going back toward the ball of her foot. I was sure she would have to have them cut out; but gave her the kit and told her it wouldn't hurt to try. It got them all! The kits are under 20 dollars and unless you are a diabetic or have other circulatory problems, are certainly worth the try! It might take several tries, but a lot easier than going to the doctor.
I've always heard that you take a tiny piece of garlic clove and duct tape it on the wart. Keep changing it until its gone.
I'm not sure if this remedy will take care of planter warts, but it surely wouldn't hurt to try. I had a wart 'frozen' on my wrist and it went away......but a couple of years later, it came back. I used the Vitamin C paste on it and it's been gone for a few years now.
Make a paste of a Vitamin C tablet with water, apply the paste to the wart, cover with a bandaid, or whatever it takes to keep it there. Leave it alone, except to replace as needed until the wart is gone.
Plantars warts are caused by a virus, not a long toe. Either you misunderstood or got took.
I read what a podiatrist said when he started getting a plantar's wart and he was on vacation. He cleaned it with alcohol then wrapped gauze around it and kept it taped in place for several days. He said it would go away because of being enclosed without oxygen. Who knows? Try it and see.
I have gotten rid of a wart with duct tape and apple cider vinegar after the doctor supposedly froze it off. Take a small piece of cotton ball soak in the vinegar, place over wart and tape down with duct tape. I have also used just the duct tape and it worked also. There is a wonderful website of home remedies you might like. It is

yikes...been there!
I would Google this. I've read about using duct tape, a banana peel and tea tree oil. I don't know the specifics so Google. The above things do work!
Cricket, Lilac is correct, plantars warts are caused by the HPV virus. Here are a couple of medical links to check out for professional information, advice and ideas:

Hi there, both my daughters ages 6 and 9 years old went swiming at a friends pool and both developed HPV (warts), the oldest one on her toe and it went away on it's own, and the youngest on her knee which grew into clusters. I went to Stanford Hospital (University) in Northern California and they told me that they wouldn't be able to do much, so they froze it and it bubbled and it got even bigger than before (roughly a dime size) I've purchased d-lenolate olive leaf extract and gave her 2 capsules x 3 per day and in aprox two weeks they got smaller, back to the follow-up with the Dr.
