I am looking for an old recipe that came out in a free little paperback booklet from Bisquick about 40-50 years ago. My mom made these cookies bars called "Date Nut Bars".
When my Mom died I never found the little paper back booklet (it was well worn). I have not been able to find that recipe anywhere either. Do anyone keep the old files of those recipes? I would love to have it. Thank you.

Nancy, Go to Cooks.com and put in Bisguick
date nut bar. I found it there. J.B.
Thank you, I have bookmarked this recipe and will try it. I have the same situation, my Mom made these from an old Bisquick recipe book when I was young but before she died I asked her about the recipe but she could not recall.
the original in the cookbook used white sugar not brown.

I made these as well from the recipe in an old Bisquick booklet. Loot at Bettycrocker.com, date nut bars. This is the recipe I used to do where you cook the date mixture and layer it between the bisquick and oat mixture.
I have the original recipe for the Bisquick Date Bars.
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup shortening
2 cups Bisquick
1-1/2 cups Oats
Mix brown sugar, butter and shortening. Mix in Bisquick and oats. Press 1/2 of mixture into bottom of 9x9x2 pan. Top with filling, then top with remaining oat mixture.
FILLING: 1-package chopped dates (approx. 3 cups)
3/4 c water, 2 Tbs. sugar. Cook over low heat until thick
BAKE: 400 degrees 25-30 minutes.
Booklet From Bisquick Dated 1957:

3/4 Cup Sugar
1 egg
1 1/3 Cups Bisquick
1/2 Cup chopped nuts
1 Cup cut-up dates
Heat oven to 350 degrees Mix thoroughly butter, sugar, egg. Stir in Bisquick, nuts & dates Bake 25 min. in greased 8 inch square pan. Cool about 1 hour. Cut in bars, rolls in confectioners sugar
