The Fred and Friends "Tank Up" mug is a cute idea. It is a coffee mug with a fuel gauge on it that uses a heat sensitive decoration to show how full the cup is.
Unfortunately, the design on this $12 mug washes off completely in the dishwasher. The heat sensitive paint doesn't become unresponsive. After washing, the mug appears completely white as if it had no design at all. I wrote to Fred and Friends and they confirmed that this is by design.
The box recommends hand washing, but even so the design is probably only going to last a couple weeks.
Avoid this low quality product. A company which makes as many kitchen products as Fred and Friends should ensure that their products can actually be used more than once. Especially at the prices they are charging.
