To clean the grooves of old records, Dip a shaving brush in a mixture of equal parts distilled water and triple distilled vodka. Brush the mixture into the grooves of the record and dry with a tack cloth.

And if you're not one to have distilled water and vodka you can use a 50/50 mixture of water and dish soap and a stiff weave cotton towel.
And one more--
if you're wondering what to do with the dirty record and don't want to clean it at all then you can make a serving bowl out of it by making the oven 200 degrees, putting the record on a pizza tray and counting the minutes to 7. Take it out and mold it with your hands to a bowl. Actually there's many ways to do this and garage sales or the Salvation Army have cheap records if you just want some interesting chip bowls and your supply is worth keeping!
