In a large pot, place the cubed potatoes, cabbage, carrots, and add enough water until everything in the pot is covered. Cook over medium heat for about 45 minutes. Add the kielbasa and cook for an additional 15 minutes. Add salt, pepper, and butter to taste.

this is also good with cooked noodles added when the Kiebasa and Cabbage is done. The noodles work with any kind of sausage.
This is great. Our family makes it in an oven dish, no carrots, add sliced onions. and one small can sauerkraut as well as thinly sliced cabbage with the potatoes and sliced kielbasa, all alternately layered with salt and pepper and a few tablespoons of water . Cover with foil and bake about 45 minutes or until potatoes are done.
Any variation is good. We drain and slightly rinse the sauerkraut.
