We are taking a family vacation this summer to Mackinaw City, MI and coming back home through Wisconsin. Does any one have any ideas for interesting spots that are either free or require a nominal entrance fee? We have three boys ages 11, 8,& 7? Our boys like museums, historical sites, etc.
Thank you for you help.

Hi,
I live on the West Coast so I can't help you with anything but some links.
Here is a site for Wisconsin:
and another for Michigan:
There is a listing for Mackinaw City and events there by month.

You can make reservations at the Historic Mill Creek Park online. This looks like a wonderful place.
Here is an activity that isn't free but looks like fun and the prices are very reasonable:
Hope you have a wonderful trip.

So I'm going to Mackinaw not too long from today, so I was wondering what kind of things should I look for? What sites I should go to see?

Mackinaw sounds like a very interesting small tourist city in Michigan. Local attractions include Fort Michilimackinac, the Mackinac Bridge, the Mackinaw Crossings shopping mall, Mill Creek, the Old Mackinac Point Light, the Historic Village, the McGulpin Point Light, and the retired US Coast Guard Icebreaker Mackinaw and it is said to be the most popular tourist destination in Michigan.
This site shows the best of Mackinaw at this point in time: www.tripadvisor.com/
Popular restaurants are Top-rated Mackinaw City Restaurants
The Chippewa Room, Mackinaw Bakery & Coffeehouse, and Darrow's Family Restaurant.
popular destinations are Mackinac Bridge, Shepler's Mackinac Island Ferry, and Colonial Michilimackinac park.
Bike riding and the public library are highly recommended. Here is a thread of what pewww.tripadvisor.com/
