Has anyone heard about the new DVD's are going to start being made different, so you have to have a new DVD player in order to view the new type? I am in the market to purchase a DVD player and wanted to know if what I heard is true? I'd hate to think my DVDs would not be useful anymore in a few years.

YOu might be thinking of "BlueRay" Don't worry too much just yet. The change won't happen any time too soon....
I've actually just read an article that this year, walmart will start selling only blueray items and other stores are following suit, so it may hapen quicker than one might think.
I think I might know what you're talking about. I've had problems playing certain DVDs in my older DVD/VCR combo player that are produced by certain companies - such as "Fine Line Media" for example. I have a Netflix membership & when I called their customer service about this, I was told that some movie companies are making their DVDs unplayable because they don't want you to be able to make copies of them in DVD recorders.
