Colander to Remove Excess Salt from Nuts

We love pistachios, but many times they have a lot of salt on them. I discovered that by shaking them in a mesh colander, I was able to removed a large quantity of the salt. I also shake pumpkin seeds.

Thanks for the idea. I recently bought dried ginger slices. Have been noticing how much sugar is in the bag. When I get home I plan on emptying the bag in a colander and get rid of the excess sugar. Why did I not think of that before?

I've been doing this for years, to remove excess salt, sugar...and sometimes just to make small nuts and fruits "look nice". I use either a mesh strainer, or a colander with larger holes, when I just want to lose those little bits.
