Mix one part ammonia and one part hydrogen peroxide.
Swish the jewelry in the solution for a few seconds, then rinse with clear water.
This can be used on real gold, costume jewelry and jewelry with "hard" gemstones (diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, etc.)
DO NOT USE this solution on any jewelry with pearls or opals.

Emeralds aren't as hard as rubies and sapphires. They should only be cleaned in warm water with a drop of dishwashing soap. If the band has to be cleaned, use a silver or gold polishing cloth.

A jeweler told my Mother this many years ago when she bought her emerald ring.

I put my gold and diamonds in a jar with a denture cleaning tablet. No scrubbing, just rinse and wear.
