If you have a budget for Christmas, this is a good time to buy a few Christmas gifts. My suggestions for not overspending during these tax saving week-ends from my experience are:
- Look at the ads before you leave home to shop.
- Go through your closets to see what you are in need of, donate the clothes you can no longer use.
- Make a list and stick to it.
- Do a search for your state and find out the exact rules which apply to what you can purchase during the tax free week-end.
- Stick to your spending budget.

Thank you so much for posting this! I remember several years ago when Texas first had this I boasted to all my family and friends in Tennessee. To a person they all said they wished Tn had it.
Now I see that they do. Maybe it will spread nation wide. Every little bit helps. Thanks to you for gathering the info and thanks for thriftyfun for publishing it.

Here in Delaware we are a sales-tax free state and do not have sales tax any day of the year. That's why Delaware is not included in this list. If you live nearby or passing through, come to Delaware to shop anytime.
