Filling:
Cream sugar and shortening together, add egg yolks. Add remaining dry and liquid ingredients and mix well. Drop by tablespoons on ungreased cookie sheets. They will spread a bit, so leave enough room to allow for this. Bake at 375 degrees F for 13-15 minutes, testing with a toothpick when done. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from cookie sheet.
For Frosting: Beat until light and fluffy.
Then take one and spread with filling and top with another. You can sprinkle confectioners' sugar on top, if desired. Makes about 13 double layer little cakes.
