Have you tried oven cleaner? I have used that on my grill and it works wonders.

I just run it hot for fifteen minutes and all the grease is charred off.

Is your grill a Kamado Joe Pro Joe grill? For the grease, First use a baking soda solution to remove the grease and you can try using a solution of baking soda if your grates are extremely dirty. Combine 90 grams of baking soda with 60 ml of warm water and apply the paste to the iron grates.

After 20 minutes, clean it off with a brush made of wire bristles(like the one we offred) . You could also use tin foil to clean the grates.
