Cream butter and sugar well. Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition. Melt candy in a double boiler or in the microwave. Add syrup to melted candy. Add chocolate mixture to the butter, sugar and egg mixture. Sift flour. Dissolve soda in the buttermilk. Add the flour and milk alternately to the cream mixture. Add vanilla. Pour into a greased and floured 12 cup Bundt pan or tube pan and bake 1 1/2-2 hours at 325 degrees F. Makes one cake that serves 12-15 people.
