I never used my tongs because they took up too much storage space and were always tangled into everything else in my cabinet drawer. Then I discovered that they fit perfectly in a paper towel roller. Just hold them together and slide them inside the cardboard roller, and they lie neatly in the drawer.

I just wrap a rubber band around mine.
I save the wide rubber bands that come around broccoli and wrap them around tongs
I like this idea and will try it. Thanks.
I too just wrap a rubber band around. Sometimes they come on produce like celery and asparagus, so I have lots and this way they get reused!
Guess I've missed out because I've never had tongs that didn't come with the little metal bar that you can slide to open or close :-o I like your idea a lot and will keep it in mind if that bar ever comes off!
I am going to do the paper towel tube thing what a lovely idea! I don't keep rubber bands because they are so dangerous for animals and pets if they are swallowed..Thank you so much for this great idea!
I tried it this morning and I love the idea! I already emailed my friends about it.
Great idea! I do something similar. I slide a wooden napkin ring holder on my tongs. Works perfectly.
I really like this idea too, very good tip!
Great idea! Both of the tongs I have have locking mechanisms but they never seem to stay tight enough and when I put them in the utensil crock, they always catch on everything. I am sure I have room in my draw for a paper towel tube, and they may both fit in one tube, one at each end.
Thanks for the great tip. Sounds easier to pull them from a tube rather than wrestling an elastic off.
God Bless
