I need to hire a lawyer for a child support case. My daughter is in Missouri and I live in Oregon. Should I hire one here or in MO?

You would have a hire a lawyer in the state where your daughter lives.
Is your grandchild living with you or his/her mother?
I advise you to talk with your daughter and tell her to call a lawyer in her area and ask the same question.
You can call most lawyers and ask a question for no cost at all over the phone. Call a few and ask.
Hire a lawyer where the case will be determined. This way, the lawyer will be more familiar with the state laws.
Whatever state awarded you custody or temporary custody is where you should file for child support. If you go in person, take all your paper records with you pertaining to your custody rights.
Call ACLU, every state has a father groups with suggestions and a lawyer to help with advice. The lawyer is with the group here in washington state it is called fathers advocates group.
