I have a sofa bed with a mechanism made by Hickory Springs that does not close properly (when being made back into a sofa, it will not slide under the sofa's backrest). It seems as if the mattress is too thick, it's five and one half inches.
The dealer claims that the standard mattress is five and one half inches thick, and he claims the mechanism has been abused, so he refuses to do anything else. The mechanism has not been abused, bent, broken, etc., and when you take the mattress out the mechanism works fine. I have had no luck reaching anyone at Hickory Springs either. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe if you try sliding the mattress a wee bit away from the sliding-in area toward what would be the foot of the bed, just to get the mechanism started, the mattress would start going in then. Worth a try? I hope it works. Blessings.
