Many years ago a friend made dinner rolls using a cake mix, yellow I think. Does anyone have that recipe?

Interesting...never heard of such a thing.
@jeangail: thanks for that website link. I found many good ones there.
Cake Mix Yeast Rolls
2 packages granulated yeast
2 cups warm water
1 box white or yellow Jiffy cake mix
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups flour or more
Mix yeast and water in a large bowl. Let set long enough for yeast to dissolve; stir until smooth. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well, place dough in greased or oiled bowl, cover with foil or kitchen towel, put in warm place and let dough rise until doubled, about one hour.
Punch dough down. turn out onto floured surface and shape into rolls. Cover and let rise until double again, about one hour.
Bake at 325 degrees F for about 20 minutes. Butter the tops of rolls as soon as you remove them from the oven.
These are really good!
I was going to make some rolls today, will try this instead, yummy!
