Grandma Derr's Stuffing

Easy, cheap and scratch made.

Ingredients:

  • 2-4 sticks butter or margarine (not heart healthy LOL)
  • 1-2 onions chopped
  • 1 stalk of celery chopped (optional)

  • bread cubes (I use torn up bread) at least 2-3 cups full
  • mashed potatoes for binding
  • Sausage (optional)
  • seasonings

Directions:

In a Dutch oven, melt butter, add onions and celery cook until coated in butter. Add bread cubes coat in butter/ onion mixture. Add cooked hot/sweet sausage at this point (if you like). Add your seasonings (garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, Italian and paprika are the ones I use).

Add mashed potatoes (enough to bind mixture)

Add entire mix to greased baking dish bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes until mixture is brown (this step isn't necessary but most people like it better browned) and that's it!
