One of the favorite gifts on a budget that I put together was a ream of white xerox/printer paper and a new set of markers. Paper can be found at almost any office supply or mass merchandiser for less than $5 a ream and markers at the dollar store. If you go to an office supply or printing shop they will usually give you a box the exact size of the printer paper.

I can't help but think how much better it would be to buy that ream of paper and those markers at your locally-owned office supply store rather than a mass merchandiser. You might pay a few coins more, but you'll be supporting a local business. Whenever we can, we buy local. I only wish we could afford to frequent more of our local stores over the super-cheap mass merchandisers.
