You can repair the chips on the rims of plates/bowls, etc by filling in the color - if necessary - with marker and then covering with clear nail polish!

Oh my goodness. How timely. Thank you so much. Just today I accidentally chipped the edge of a beautiful old Chinese plate. It had been in a display cabinet and I had not dusted the items in there for some time. I hit the side of the plate on the inside of the cabinet when removing it and a small chip on the plate edge was immediately evident. I am going to follow the advice here right now. And there was not even any dust on the plate. Thank you again.
