My husband bought me a Kindle for my birthday and I love it. There are many free books available on Amazon.com. You will get all kinds of information about paying for the list, but you can easily find them for yourself at no cost.
Just log into Amazon.com and choose Kindle e-books. When the list comes up, you will see a place that has a drop down arrow where you can choose Lowest to Highest Price, Highest to Lowest Price, A-Z or Z-A. Once you choose the Genre that you want, just choose Lowest to Highest Price and the Free books will come up at the beginning of the list. It will say Price: $0.00
Source: I found this on a Kindle Forum, but am not sure which one.

Amazon.com:Free eBook Collections:Kindle e-Books is the source I use. It lists over 15,000 free books (Alcott, Balzac, Dickens, Twain, etc.). I have already downloaded over 1,290 books and am happily reading them. I might add that someone could take my microwave...but keep away from my Kindle!
I also love my Kindle my sons got me for Christmas and I really love free books! I go to iqereader.com and it is all free books. The amount changes from time to time, right now there are 900 and something. When you click on a book it takes you to the Amazon website. Really cool!
I ordered my Kindle last week and should have it sometime this week and I can't wait! Thanks so much for the info on getting free books. I will check them all out soon.
Don't know if my daughter uses this method to get books for her Kindle, but I'm posting to Facebook anyway. Thumbs up!
