Save With Electric Meat Slicer

Hubby and I recently purchased a moderately priced electric meat slicer. We figure it's going to pay for itself pretty quickly.

  • You can usually find unsliced meat cheaper per pound than sliced.

  • The unsliced meat keeps longer in the fridge than sliced.

  • It's helpful to have tasty sandwich makings (including sliced cheese and tomatoes) on hand for those times we're tempted to go out, but really should eat more frugally at home.

I use my meat slicer for cold left over roast, great for shaving left over ham and fantastic for slicing a cooled down chicken or turkey breast without it all falling apart. I have even sliced homemade bread with it.

We have had one for almost 30 years and it's still going strong. It has more than paid for itself. We also like to make beef jerky and we can slice the meat like we want to. The butcher at the market never could get it right. Since raw meat is easier to slice when it's partially frozen, that's what we do. Hmmm...now I've got myself wanting some jerky. LOL! Maybe this week-end.

Years ago I invested in a couple of reall good knives and find I can shave meats without all the cleanup of a slicer.
