Distilled vinegar and water solution using a soft rag and gentle elbow grease usage :-)
The Mr. Clean Eraser bars/sponges, once thoroughly wet and then wrung out, are excellent at removing all kinds of "stuff". I've never used them on flat paint, but they work well on all kinds of semi-gloss and glossy paint surfaces. I would try them first on a discrete area and if it works as well as I think it will, just go for it!
I have tried using the Mr. Clean Erasers and I found them to fall apart after scrubbing. They literally fell apart. They did not clean any better than anything else that I have tried. I was disappointed.
Windex is the only thing I've found that gets nicotine stains off painted furniture. Works great!
Use ammonia and water with a little squirt of dishwashing liquid. Put in a spray bottle @ 1 part ammonia to 4 parts water. I use the lemon flavored ammonia as it doesn't smell as strong.
