Cupcake is 3 years old and a lhasa apso mix. I rescued her on Valentine's day. She loves to chase cats.

She is a darling little doggie, but I sure wish you didn't allow her to chase cats. The cats are frightened, and if they are cornered, they might just turn around and scratch her eyes out. Maybe she wouldn't hurt a cat if she caught one, but the cats don't know that. You couldn't blame the cat if it felt it was defending itself, and the only thing it could do is turn around and fight with the only weapons it has, its claws. Teach her to leave the cats alone if it's not too late. You might save her from being injured by a cat who was only defending itself from being tormented.
Is Cupcake running loose when she chases the cats? That might not be such a good idea either. If the cat ran across the street and she followed it, she could be hit by a vehicle and end up terribly hurt or worse.
If she is chasing your cats in her own home, that is something totally different, and the cats would know she is only (hopefully) playing, just as our cats chase one another all the time when they're playing with no intentions of hurting one another. That's just part of their playing. They are fun to watch.
