To protect your furniture from moisture from a potted plant, wrap a magazine in colored foil and use this as a mat for your plant.

I use free-giveaway promotional mousepads as pads between my plants and furniture. They are waterproof, and can be cut to shape of the pot. I flip them over so that the advertising side is down.

I use the flat plastic lids from coffee cans or iced tea mix canisters & other similar lids as "coasters" under potted plants. Just have to be careful to not over water & over flow the lids!
Smaller plants I water at sink so they are saturated and I don't over water. I put the plant pot down inside a decorated or colorful pot to catch any drips. Also at the end of the summer, I purchased the plastic picnic plates or bowls to go under larger pots. I use clear.
I use inverted (old) burner covers under the clay saucers. They look decent and will catch any overflow. If you're worried about your furniture getting scratched underneath those, just fold a paper towel or use one of those rubbery squares for opening jars under that.
