I want to buy a yo-yo. I used to have one as a child, but I could never do any tricks on them, it would be so cool to buy one. I have no idea where to start.

John,I'm not sure where you live (Sheffield,England(?)) but most Department stores like Wal Mart etc.carry them.Even Dollar stores have them.I hope you enjoy Thriftyfun. :)
I agree with keeper60. The toy department, or a stand-alone toy store will have them. It'll probably be down an aisle with old, classic toys (bottles of bubbles, jump ropes, Silly Putty, Slinky, etc.). If they have several kinds, try to feel their weight. I've tried the cheap ones (like from the dollar store), and they're so light it's hard to do much with them.
Duncan is the worlds no. 1 maker of yo yo's. You can call and order direct from them at 1-800-356-8396.
They should be able to tell you where to buy locally.
Cheap yoyos won't work so if you are serious you have to get the real ones. Get the Duncan. It probably has instructions.
Go to WalMart, KMart or any toy store!
I concur with purchasing the Duncan brand! ;-) Here's a link where you can choose from a really, really good assortment of styles and some accessories :-)
I went for a more expensive one, £25. I agree that buying cheap yo-yos is a bad idea, they do not sleep for very long at all. I am afraid that in the UK we do not have a Wall Mart, well, I have never seen one.
