Never eat meals inside the parks, if you can help it. When my husband and I honeymooned at Disneyland, we found a great buffet restaurant just outside the park. We would just walk out of the park and across the street for our meals. It saved money for other fun stuff.
It's fun once in a while to get a little snack inside the parks. But for full meals, my suggestions is to walk across the street to one of the restaurants! Have fun!

This is very good advice. You forgot to mention though, that most theme parks will give you a stamp on your hand or some other method of them identifying you as already paid for the day so you don't have to re-pay to come back into the park after eating. Most parks do this as you come in initially, but some don't. So you have to ask as you're leaving if there is a way for them to identify you so you don't have to pay again.
Whenever we go to a theme park, I always take along some snack bars in my purse to munch on during the day. As a special treat once a day we'll get a snack from inside the park, but mostly it's the snack bars I've brought. I also bring some water flavorers and an empty bottle for each of us, so we can fill them up at the water fountains that all parks have around and flavor them if we want. That way we aren't buying sodas which are sky high inside the park.
Between these and stepping out to go to lunch and/or dinner, at least the cost of eating is kept to a minimum! Now if I could figure out how to lower the cost of the souvenir stands!
