I have a very small double ended Knifty Knitter with only 8 pegs on one end and 5 pegs on the other. I can't remember which direction to work in, I lost the instructions. Do I wrap the yarn clockwise around the pegs and work to the right?

You would do the basic "e" wrap where you wrap the yarn counter-clockwise with the wraps taking place on the inside of the loom. If you're using chunky yarn you only go all the way around the loom twice and then pull up the bottom loop over the top loop. for the next row just e-wrap all the way around once. You'll end up with 2 rows of loops on each peg.
With worsted weight yarn you'd wrap your loom 4 times and pull the 2 bottom loops over the top 2 loops. After your first row with WW yarn, then go all the way around your loom twice. You'll end up with 4 loops on each peg again. Pull up the bottom 2 loops over the top 2 loops
