Simple Sukiyaki

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1 lb. sirloin tip, sliced thin
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 can bamboo shoots, drained (5 oz.)

  • 2 bunches green onions, cut in 1 inch pieces
  • 1 can bean sprouts (16 oz.)
  • 1 can water chestnuts, drained and thinly sliced (5 oz)
  • 1 can sliced mushrooms, drained (3 oz.)

Directions

Heat oil in an electric skillet at 375-400 degrees F. Brown sirloin 2-3 minutes. Combine sugar, flour, soy sauce and water. Pour over beef; push to one side of skillet. Add bamboo shoots and onions, keeping in separate groups. Continue cooking while tossing each ground 5-10 minutes. Keep each group separate. Push these to side making room for bean sprouts, water chestnuts, and mushrooms, keeping in groups. Cook about 2 minutes until heated through. Serve with hot fluffy rice and a cool salad.
