Honey (Labrador Retriever/Border Collie)

Honey is our 12 (the dear old thing!) year old Labrador X Border Collie.

Honey was a tiny little ball of black fur with sticky-up ears on the day I got her. We had to catch 3 trains to get home. It was the middle of summer and over 30 degrees (celsius). By the time we got near to home, she was so tuckered out I had to carry her the rest of the way in my handbag with her little paws and face sticking out the top!

She likes to go in the car. She talks and talks and talks - non stop :)

How cute! As a side note it's not healthy or safe for a dog to hang their head out of the window. They can get objects in their eyes & ears & they might jump out. Also if you're in an accident they could become decapitated. I know a lot of people aren't aware of these things.

KJP, she is one lucky baby. Bless your heart for all you went through for her.

Vic is right, be very careful if you let her put her head out the window!

She looks like a happy puppy! My guess is that she no longer fits in your handbag? (or suitcase or steamer trunk or.....) ;-}

Honey looks just like our dear "Maggie" who we just lost recently at 18 years. Yes, 18.....Honey may not be as old as you think.....fortunately our Maggie was healthy until her last day here. When I was younger I had a dog of the same mix that lived to 17 1/2 years. Good genes in the mix I guess! If your Honey is like my dogs were, she doesn't stray much, likes the front porch, but has a mind of her own. Give her a hug for us-- we really miss our girl!

We have a border collie and her name is also Maggie, she was born November 2, 1991, she is still with us. The vet said that she does not look 17 years old. All her blood work is great for her age. Her fur is soft and long. She has lost some of her teeth, the only gray is in the back of her. In her old age she has stated barking to go out.
Our vet told us to feed her rice, veggie, and chicken or gr. beef twice a day. She does get her pet tab one a day also. We make the food 3 times a week,

2 cup of uncooked rice, 16 oz of frozen mixed veggie, 2 chicken brest. cook this all together.

Dog food has alot of salt. When our vet told us to take her off all dog food she was 12 years old. We feel that this diet of home cooked foods have given us more years to enjoy her. How long will she live only God knows.
