I have fruit flies in my house, but for some reason they like to attack bread as well as the fruit. Does anyone know why this is?

Put a dish of vinegar next to the fruit and bread. They will be attracted to the vinegar.
Unless it is raisin bread, I'm going to guess the yeast. They are attracted to fermentation.
If you have any wine around, put a little bit in a bottle and they will be attracted to that too and then can't get out of the bottle. Red wine vinegar will also work.
Bread undergoes fermentation as well, containing yeast, sugar, and sometimes even high fructose corn syrup.
They are phorid flies. They also like produce. They are killing me and my 2 dogs, literally.
