This falcon came to visit my birdfeeder. Of course, he wasn't looking for seed but one nice, fat bird. But that's nature, isn't it? He's a beautiful guy. He didn't get a meal that day, by the way.

I think it might be a Coopers or Sharp-shinned Hawk instead of a falcon. Here, the Coopers usually favor larger birds such as doves, and Sharpies try to catch smaller birds like Goldfinches and Sparrows.
Donna60 - you know, I thought it was a hawk, but my roommate was so sure it was a falcon, I decided to trust his judgement over mine. Thank you for the information.
Barb, I believe you were right. The bird looks more like a hawk than a falcon. We used to have many of both in north Florida, but not so many nowadays.
I thought it was a hawk also, but either way he's a smart bird-knows where to find an easy meal!
