I always love it when something I do is shown on TV (or in a book, etc.) and now it's "cool". When I saw a episode of Rachael Ray showing something I had learned in high school, I thought I'd share. Being Thrifty is a way of life for me. It helps the economy and makes younger kids learn nothing is free.
You take the leftover - hard to get - in the corners of your near empty eye makeup case to create a nail polish. We all know trying to get that last little bit out of a container is almost impossible. In my case, I don't use make up all that often and it is unsafe after few months. Instead of wasting it, scrape it out unto a paper plate or old plastic lid - anything you can toss out afterwards.
Once you have scraped it out, then crush into a fine powder. Take whatever color you have or create a new one by adding a couple together. Once crushed up, you add it to a clear polish. Clear polish can be bought so inexpensively. Adding the left over eye makeup makes beautiful nail colors.
If you want, make just a small amount at a time. Or you can add to half bottle of clear polish. Close tightly, to allow it to last as long as if you had bought the expensive new colors. Making it this way puts the depth, darkness or intensity of the shade up to you. When I learned this, it was when blue nail polish wasn't as cool as today.By Luana M. from San Diego, CA
