Filling:
Melt butter in saucepan. Add sugar, flour, and eggs. Stir continuously over low to medium heat until bubbly. Remove from heat and add vanilla. While filling cools slightly, arrange sliced pears in baked pie shell. Pour filling over pears and chill at least 4 hours. (Can also use 2 large cans of pears, well drained.)
