Easier than lasagna, and freezes very well.
Cook ground beef and onion until browned, breaking up clumps with spoon. Drain.Stir in garlic, sugar, salt, pepper and tomato sauce and simmer 15 minutes.
Meanwhile cook noodles until firm but tender. Drain.
In small bowl blend well cream cheese and sour cream.
Lightly coat bottom of 2 1/2 qt. casserole with cooking spray. Arrange noodles over bottom of dish. Spread meat sauce evenly over noodles. Spread sour cream mixture evenly over meat sauce. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over top.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes until heated and bubbly. This is better made a day ahead and covered and refrigerated. Time improves the flavor of this dish even more.

Cook noodles according to package directions. Cook ground beef, sweet pepper and garlic until beef is browned. Drain the fat. Add tomato sauce, sugar, salt and pepper. Stir in the cooked noodles. Combine cottage cheese and cream cheese. Add sour cream and onions. Layer half of the noodles mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Top the layer with the cottage cheese mixture and the remaining noodle mixture. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Bake, uncovered, in 350 degree F. oven for 30 minutes or until casserole is heated through. Makes 8 servings.<
