Mary is a 7 year old Pygmy goat. When I was in high school, my mother ran a daycare service out of our country home. Two little girls, who she watched, lived just down the road from us. They had two little pygmy goats, Mary and Laura, named after Little House On The Prairie characters. These little girls unfortunately had to get rid of their goats during my senior year in high school. Rather than give them up to strangers, we offered to let my grandparents know about the goats, that way they had a chance to go to what we KNEW would be a good home.
They gladly accepted, we let grandpa know, and he was more than happy for the chance for free goats! Anyway, the goat you see here is Mary. My husband and I were out at my grandparents property a couple weeks back, tearing down their old house and making room for the new one. Mary was wandering around the hillside curiously looking over at us, wondering what the heck we were doing, and hoping upon hope for a tasty treat!
Unfortunately, she is the only one of the two goats from those little girls left. Grandpa reached a point in time where he had over 20 goats and so needed to get rid of some. He opened up the back of his pickup truck and figured the first x amount of goats to jump in were the ones he'd have to get rid of. Laura was one of those goats.
