Turpentine Odors on Fabric?

Does anyone have advice on how to remove turpentine odors from fabric? My son-in-law accidentally put cloth soaked in turpentine in my washing machine full of towels. Now I can't get the smell off them even though they have now been washed 3 times with soap powder and conditioner!

Run a pre-soak cycle with 2 cups of (clear) vinegar; then add 2 cups of vinegar in the final rinse cycle. Leave the washer door open after completion. There will be a short lived vinegar smell but the turpentine odor should be gone (the vinegar will help cleanse the drain line of soap residue as well).
