This is an unusual tip but if you have as good as luck as I have with it, it is well worth it. Try meeting up with someone you see posting a lot on here that lives in your area. I met in person a fellow ThriftyFun member yesterday just from a few messages on here and a few emails.
What a very nice person she is. We found we had a lot in common. We met for breakfast and probably talked an hour and 1/2. We plan to do it again sometime. We live 2 hours from each other but I visit other friends where she lives also. Try it, you might be in for a very nice time.

I've struck up a friendshop with a very nice person here and we write emails back and forth often. She sends me "funnies" and I gripe to her aobut my plight as a farmers wife and she laughs.
Oh dear! I'm feeling left out of an opportunity! 2 hours isn't so much is it, laniegirl, but I don't think I'm going to find any ThriftyFun members here on my little Mediterranean island of Malta! Just in case anyone ever does decide to visit my little island, please contact me. I would love to meet up and show you around!
Indeed we do Glenn'sMom and you send me some pretty good 'funnies' besides your 'funny, farm life, gripes' ;-) There are so many nice people here and it would be lovely if we could all meet!
I think this is a great tip, Laniegirl, and I am so very glad you had the wonderful opportunity to visit a fellow member face to face so am giving you a thumbs up :-)
Cett, if I had the money and could physically travel I would be there to visit your lovely island in a heartbeat!
Oh! And I know there are lots and lots of ThriftyFun members in Iowa but I can't help but guess even though I am most likely wrong ;-) Robin?
Sounds like a wonderful time, Cett!
Okay, just received a notification that there was a new post here from Sappie and re-read what I originally wrote. I could just edit my first post but the humor of my error would not be seen if I did that ;-)
'funny farm life gripes' should read as:
'funny, farm life, gripes' but I'll venture to bet Glenn'sMom feels like she lives on a funny farm now and then ;-) LOL!
Oh, you're sooo right, Deeli! It truly IS a "Funny Farm", especially since the cows are calving and "the man" isn't at all sure they can do it without his helping hand! He checks them every 2 hours all night and day! We're both a little rummy most of the time from lack of sleep. I'm strongly considering taking the guest room for the duration of calving but I really hate to do that since I see going to another room as the beginning of the end of ...something...can't quite remember what!! Don't laugh too hard, Deeli darlin'!
I think it is a good idea, but you got to build a relationship and take safety measures. Form a support group, when you need a shoulder to lean on you have someone, when you are under the weather you can call, or go out for tea and discuss about everyday issues.
