Directions:
Combine sugar, butter, shortening. Add egg yolks to creamed mixture. Add vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture. Fold in coconut and nuts. Beat egg whites stiff and fold into other ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.
Frosting:
Blend all and frost cooled cake.
