Regal is doing their free kids movies again this summer. Here in Oregon, they are showing movies at 10 AM on both Tuesday and Wednesday. They are second run movies, I'm taking my boys to Planet 51 tomorrow. They also had Astroboy, Kung Fu Panda and other relatively recent kids' movies. I have two theaters that are about the same distance, so I have four to choose from every week. As Regal is nationwide, check your own state for their listings.
They are entirely free but the concession stands are open so be ready to buy popcorn or say "no". As it is at 10 AM, I find a good breakfast before and then home for lunch works out well.
This is especially great if you have younger kids who can't sit through a normal movie. They can experience the big screen and get practice without it costing anything. Also, if you have noisy kids, they are just one of many. It looks like they try to do one younger kids movie and one that appeals to the older kids.
Happy Summer!

Looking for something frugal to do with your kids this summer? I discovered this last year and it was a really great program. If you live near a Regal Cinemas, check this out!
They have second run kid's movies (I saw Charlotte's Web, Happy Feet and Night at The Museum, to name a few, on my area's list) for free on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. They usually show two different movies and have two showings, 10 AM and noon. It is entirely free (but they have the concession stand open so feed the kids before you go!) and on a first come basis. And as the theater is full of screaming kids, it is a great opportunity for toddlers or preschoolers to enjoy the big screen without being "shushed."

We don't have a Regal here. so don't forget the free movies at the library you can check out! Not as fun, but at least free. Make some treats and have a movie party at home. (06/20/2007)
