To remove stains on clothing as well as car seats and other color fast items try heavy duty oven cleaner. Spray and wash. Works wonders.

My Dad uses lighter fluid (in the can, the kind used for cigarette lighters), to get stains out of fabric and carpet that he cannot get out with other methods. Tried it once on a red wine stain on a sweater and it worked.

This sounds totally weird, but it works. When I can't get a stain out of a white garment (or light color) with any other method, I spray it with oven cleaner (like easy-off) from the 99 Cent Store. Wait about 10 minutes, then launder. It always take the stain out, but on colored fabrics (especially. dark colors) it can also remove color. I salvaged a thrift store $2 Liz Claiborne blouse and many other garments this way!

Editor's Note: This sounds like a "last resort" solution to me. Oven cleaner is nasty stuff.
I use oven cleaner on stains too. I have saved many garments! One red blouse cause a little pinking of other things but it didn't damage the blouse at all and a second run through the washer took the pink out of everything else. I love it! Nothing I have used it on yet has shown any visible damage.
