I live in Saskatchewan, where we have lots of mosquitoes, but I don't find that the cats are bothered by them. I think the mosquitoes are unable to bite through the fur. I suppose they could bite on their noses or ears, but I have never seen my cats bothered by them.
I would not use any repellent, as cats wash themselves, and I am sure it is not a good idea to ingest Deet (which is the only effective people repellent) or even any home remedy that people might suggest, like Listerine or Avon Skin-so-soft (which, by the way, do not work worth a darn).
Thank u ever soooo much for the info. This summer 2019 my body has been
Overwhelm with mosquito bites.
Something as a fabric softener!!
Just the idea my 4 legged daughter
Wipe yourself & your cat's coat down with a Downy fabric softener sheet. My husband even walks around with a downy sheet tucked in his back pocket to repel mosquitoes. Try it, it does work here in Western North Carolina.
Downy is a common brand of fabric softener sheets.
You could probably use whatever brand is available in your area, although some people discourage using these because your pet may ingest dryer sheet chemicals when bathing or licking itself.
Something so inexpensive as a fabric softener that me and my 4 legged daughter can use too!
God bless you!!
