Salad Dressing Stain on a Silk Tie?

This is a new silk tie, 100% silk, made in China. It was stained with salad dressing in two small places. Nothing has been used so far for fear a having a ring after using the wrong liquid.

Oh yikes, this is one stain you may have trouble with. Have you tried any of the suggestions on the linked pages here?

I avoid silk because of the stain factor; wouldn't know how to clean it safely and it's so expensive! Good luck, I hope you can save the tie.

Take it to a dry cleaner and tell them what the stain is. They have the right stuff to get out most any stain.

You might try sprinkling it with baby powder or corn starch. In any case, this wouldn't cause further damage. Just leave it on for an hour or so and then brush it off.
