Review of The Dodge Grand Caravan

This tip is to sing the praises of our Dodge Grand Caravan. This is the second Dodge van we have had and we just have to say that we LOVE them! There is nothing more comfortable to ride in. So much room, and, for what it is, the gas mileage really isn't that bad.

We have a daughter who has been in college for the past 3 years and we never would have been able to get all her 'junk' into a car. We have found that Caravan serves us better than any other vehicle we have ever owned. I have friends who also own them and some of them have 200,000 miles on them and they are still going! I hope to never be without one!

I know what you mean about those Dodge Grand Carvans.
My mom bought one in 93 and it went every where and then she passed away in 99 and gave it to us and we are still riding it and it has 200,000 + miles on it and it still rides like it was brand new. And it's soooooo roomy. We hope we can get another 100,000 miles from it.

Thanks for sharing the good report about your van.

I have a 2000 Grand Caravan that I bought in Oct of 2001. I can't remember what kind of deal they call it but it used to be a rental car, basically. When I got it, it had 23,000 miles on it and to this day it just turned 85,000 and is running strong. We are a military family and do alot of driving to visit friends and familiy and this is an oustanding vehicle. We have the 3.3L V-6 engine and the compute/ trip meter says that it averages 20.7 mpg around where I live and the average speed driven is about 45mph as everything is a bit of a drive to get to. The picture was when I first got it in Albuquerque, New Mexico and we now are in Panama City, Florida

I'm glad someone had good luck with them, our 1st had a bad transmission, no one could fix it,and it cost us a bundle, it never got fixed. Second, same story. Third, same story. There is a problem with the transmission and the company doesn't address it.

I hate hate hate Dodge vans, and my husband's truck, same story. He won't listen to me, but I can tell you I won't sign for him for another one no matter what.

I have to say I had very bad luck with it. The first year we had to replace the drums after only 7000 miles. My transmission went out the second year I had mine. $1900 to have it fixed. I have a 10 year old Ford that is awesome. I have not put any money into it. We sold the caravan and got another ford. Two years and no problems yet.

We drove our used Dodge Caravan from South Florida to Anchorage, Alaska 6-1/2 years ago and it's still going strong. When we buy our next vehicle it will be a Caravan...except this time we'll get it with heated seats!!!

We bought a used Dodge Caravan 6-1/2 years ago when we were about to move. We drove it from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Seattle, WA then shipped it to Anchorage, AK. We've rolled the odometer over once already and are working hard to roll it over again before we buy our next one.

The only thing we'll do different next time is get it with heated seats!!!

Sorry, but our 2002 Caravan Sport has been a repair nightmare. Only 75K on it, and already we've had to replace the steering pump, the transmission, the front brakes, and the driver's side window regulator and motor. Driven lightly and maintained assiduously, and yet it's falling apart. My 1993 Corolla has cost thousands less to maintain, gets much better mileage, and isn't a land barge. Chrysler's wretched record on issuing recalls for clearly faulty components (like the trannies on every Caravan from 1998 onward) only compounds the misery of being a Dodge owner. Never again.
